1† package (rounds) of fat-free pocket (Pita) bread
16 oz. Fat-free Marinara sauce (see separate recipe-page 20)
8 oz. Fat-free shredded Mozzarella cheese (available at Albertsonís)
1† med. Onion sliced and rings separate
1† small can mushrooms, drained or 6 fresh mushrooms sliced
1† small can sliced black olives
†† Garlic powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Separate the Pita loaves at the outside edge giving 8 rounds about 6 inches in diameter. Arrange on a non-stick cookie sheet and place in preheated oven for 5-10 minutes or just until bread slices become crisp. Remove bread from oven. Cover with fat-free Marinara sauce then sprinkle liberally with fat-free cheese. Finally add onion rings, mushrooms and olives. Sprinkle with garlic powder to taste. Return to oven and bake until cheese is melted and onions are wilting. Makes 8 servings.
Each serving is fat-free with the exception of fat derived from the olives which is 0 sat. fat and 0 chol. Olive oil is good for you!
